Well I did not think much of it, I pressed the F1 key to get past the error message as suggested and windows seemingly booted properly. Now the problem was I started experience performance issues. The laptop became very slow.
I am generally good with computers as a matter of fact I wrote a guide here on accatech on how to fix a slow computer. So when my computer started being sluggish I started troubleshooting but to no avail. After I restarted the laptop thats when I remembered about the power wattage error issue when I saw it for the second time.
I just unplugged and plugged the laptop again and a reboot fixed the issue. The jacks looks the same. It works on your laptop and you think its fine. You might be able to get away with it but it damages your battery. Use the charger for the laptop that is specified by the manufacturer. You enter your service tag and you will be able to purchase the right one. Even when you switch chargers from within the same brand you might face issues.
Like as it was in my case, it was the cable that was not fully inserted to the laptop that made the laptop fail to determine the wattage. Insert it back as you normally do but making sure its all the way in. Then turn the computer on and see if the error message is gone.
The same goes for the wall socket. Make sure it is firmly plugged in. You can also test with a different power outlet. If you have a faulty AC adapter you will need to buy a new one because it might end up costing you your motherboard. In-fact its cheap for example if you look at these dell AC adapters they are cheap than risking your laptop by still using your damaged dell AC adapter.
You need to check your adapter cables if there are any exposed internal cables, if its frayed or whether the pin is bent or broken. This happens from normal wear and tear. The third problem I started facing on my new Dell Inspiron 15 laptop was that, every now and then, in spite of using the AC power adapter or charger which came along with the ultrabook, i frequently got to see this message box, when charging.
The AC power adapter type cannot be determined. Your system will operate slower and the battery will not charge. Please connect a Dell 90W AC adapter or higher for best system operation. This never happened on my earlier Dell XPS desktop, and was actually pretty annoying! On searching a bit on the Internet I found that this was an issue many were facing. Some said that this issue was now resolved in the newer Dell machines.
The adapter worked and charged fine. Then when I shut off the main power supply for a couple of hours and then then start the charging again, I got to see this message. Similarly, after having resumed the machine from Sleep, I got to see this message frequently.
Sometimes, simply turning power off and then turning it on made me see this error box.Rv salvage yards massachusetts
This was pretty frustrating actually. Just when I had resolved the Your system does not appear to have Intel Rapid Start Technology enabled error on every start up and the screen brightness flickering issue, I started seeing this error! If need be also unplug it from the wall socket and reinsert the plug.
This actually solved my problem. Even when my cord was inserted tightly and properly initially itself, I used to see the error.
But doing this, made the error box go away. But then, this cant be the solution now, can it!? I cant keep doing this all the time! Dell reacts this way, if it is not able to recognize or determine the AC power adapter type. In this scenario, you will find that:. What you can do is check the health of your Battery. Also check if your AC Adapter is functioning fine. Once here, select the Advanced tab and navigate with the help of the keyboard to Adapter Warnings. Set it to Disabled. Save the settings and Exit.
So you see, these are not exactly solutions — just workarounds! Three problems with my new Dell laptop!Menu Menu. Search Everywhere Threads This forum This thread. Search titles only.
